Provisional Gov'r of Miss,
Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipts of your communication in relative to J, G, Thigpen and C, W, Allen, charged with killing a negro, I know nothing concerning this arrest, except that the Freedmen's Bureau is not connected with it in any way, I learn that the above named parties were ar-rested by the commanding officer at Canton The arrangement made between yourself and Col. Thomas, shall, as far as lies in my power, be strictly adhered to.
